Hoċokata Ti Tour
The Racial Justice teams of House of Hope and Valley of Peace have scheduled a field trip to Mdewakanton: Dwellers of Spirit Lake on Saturday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. The 3,805-square-foot exhibit is a historical timeline shared through the eyes of the Mdewakanton Dakota people via storytelling, artifacts, and historical artifacts shared to enhance visitors’ knowledge and understanding of Minnesota history and Native American culture.
The exhibit is at Hoċokata Ti (ho-cho-ka-tah-tee), the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s cultural central and gathering space that is used to interpret and encourage traditional Mdewakanton Dakota cultural heritage, language, and history.
The one-hour tour can accommodate up to 75 people. The cost is $8 for general admission, students 13 and up, and those 65 and up, are $5.00 which can be paid for upon arrival. Free wheelchairs are provided upon request.
