February 1: Bible Study on the Book of Revelation (Part 6)

At the center of Revelation, we encounter two of the most dramatic and deeply symbolic stories, representing the life-and-death struggle that is at the heart of the book. Revelation does not proceed chronologically; it sometimes uses flashbacks. These stories are an example of flashback. Even though these stories come in the middle of the book, they actually are telling the story of Jesus’ victory on the cross – a vital message for the isolated and powerless Christian communities of John’s day – an event that has already happened, and in which Satan and evil are defeated. It is not necessary to have been to previous sessions to learn. Led by Laurie Eaton.

Pastora Melissa Melnick Gonzalez from Tapestry in Richfield, a ministry of the Minneapolis Area Synod of the ELCA and home to a vibrant immigrant community for the past ten+ years will speak with us about current immigration and how it is affecting congregations like Tapestry. She will talk about our theological grounding as people of God and how Valley of Peace and Tapestry can strengthen partnerships to welcome the immigrant.
