Adult Faith Formation
December 2: Who is Our Neighbor? Bob Hoyt will lead us on an introduction into this study. “But wanting to justify himself, he [the lawyer] asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbor?’” After the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus asked him, “‘Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?’ He said, ‘The one who showed him mercy.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do likewise.’” Luke 10:29-37 Come, listen, and discuss!
December 9: Trafficked in America. Nancy Rogness will share clips from this Frontline, which describe a specific system for trafficking of youth from Central America to an egg producing companies, and how some US policies and practices allowed for this to happen. Hopefully it’ll help us to make smart choices in the grocery store, a small step we can take to prevent this form of trafficking. Changing the demand can change the production. This is an educational component for our Cherish All Children ministry.
December 16: “And Who is My Neighbor?” Paul Mikelson will lead our first session of this series developed by Lutheran Social Services. He’ll cover “God made us different on purpose” and “What is race?” This series is developed to foster conversation and understanding. Please join us!
December 23: “Race: An Exercise” This exercise is designed to help us to see that, while we are all equal in God’s eyes, we do not start out as equals in this life.
