Worship and Music
There are many ways to get involved with the faith community at Valley of Peace. Give OnineUpcoming EventsWorship

Worship
Worship brings together the Valley of Peace congregation, visitors and the community for renewal in faith, strength, mission and purpose, by hearing the Word of God in Bible reading and preaching, receiving the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and rejoicing in the gifts given by our Triune God. We welcome children to all of our worship services and include them by offering quiet toys and books, a Children’s sermon, opportunities to serve and a place to wiggle if it is one of those days.
We worship each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. during the school year and at 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends. We also gather for worship on Wednesday evenings during Lent (the six weeks leading up to Easter.)
Members participate in worship by assisting with communion, reading the Bible passages for the day, preparing the altar (table) for communion, greeting and ushering. Services are streamed online on Facebook Live.
Music
Singing in choirs has always been part of the Lutheran tradition and we start with vocal music for our children (K-5) during 9:00 a.m. faith formation each week. The children sing in worship several times a year. The Chancel (adult) Choir is fun and singers of all levels are encouraged to participate. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm and sings most Sundays.
The Joyful Noise band welcomes all instruments, all ages and all abilities and rehearses the 2nd and 4th Sundays after worship. Valley Carillon Handbell choir rehearses Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. If you are interested in participating in or simply trying out one of the music ensembles, please contact the church office at 763-588-4611.
Longest Night
December
The Longest Night Service is offered during Advent (the pre-Christmas season) on or near the 21st of December, the longest night of a year. This year we worshipped on December 20th at 7:00 p.m. Sometimes called a Blue Christmas service in other communities, this gathering is for those seeking something other than the manufactured “happiness” of the “holidays.” It is especially comforting to those in grief, illness or loss but is also treasured by those seeking a deeper experience of preparation for the coming of the Christ Child. All are welcome.
Holy Communion
Weekly
Holy Communion. Also known as the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist. This is a central part of Sunday morning worship. Responding in faithfulness to Jesus’ command that we remember, we pray recalling Jesus’ words to us. Following his model, we share bread or gluten free waffers, and wine (or grape juice) as a way of belonging and remembering.
Everyone is welcome to this sacrament (holy celebration), which we offer most every week. Children as young as three years old are welcome to participate in a First Communion class and prepare to take their place at the table. Anyone who prefers not to take communion or very small children are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing.

Our goal is to offer parents and children a loving and caring Christian environment in which to learn and develop.
Rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we help children to know and understand God’s love, and allow that love to create a foundation for them in their world.
We are committed to reaching out and caring for our community, assuring that each child, parent and staff member is valued, respected and appreciated.
