November 21: Racial Justice: Guest Speaker – Cate Duin, Program Supervisor at LSS Refugee Services. Forced migration continues to be a growing issue worldwide with many families caught up in violence and persecution. This presentation will focus on forced migration and the United States’ immigration system including a closer look at different types of immigration status that are available to those seeking safety. We will look at the situation as it stands in the United States with refugee resettlement, the Afghan Placement and Assistance program, and more before talking about the ways that LSS Refugee Services serves our new neighbors. Cate currently supervises LSS Refugee Services’ volunteer program, immigration legal services program, and Safe Release Support program serving unaccompanied children.
